10 things that should definitely be in your tennis bag
Mar 9, 2023
1st string
You train hard, get to the match early and then the string breaks when you hit it. As a professional, I can recommend that you always have a complete roll of the string of your choice in reserve. This makes it smoother to play, and if a string breaks accidentally (on the frame), then you are prepared.
2. Grip tapes
Personally, I re-wrap my grip tape before every match, it's a different feeling playing with fresh grip tape. Furthermore, hands can be more slippery than usual, especially in matches. Playing is more comfortable with a good grip.
3. Liquid Chalk
Liquid chalk is a substance often used by strength athletes. The chalk dries the sweat from your hands. With liquid chalk you have the advantage that not everything becomes white and dusty. With fresh grip tape and liquid chalk, almost nothing stands in the way of victory.
4. Electrolytes
An electrolyte drink is ideal to give the body back important nutrients. There are many different flavors and providers. Try out what you like best.
5. Shoelaces
They can sometimes break. In extreme cases, without a replacement, you are very lost.
6. Sunscreen
One of the things I learned from my time in California was that you should never go without sunscreen. It is best to use a product that is not water-soluble. Your skin will thank you in the long run.
7. Hat
Eyes are very sensitive, especially at the beginning of the outdoor season. The hat helps to at least relieve some of the strain on the eyes. You can also hide a bad hair day.
8. Nail scissors
It's self-explanatory and without it you're lost.
9. Plasters, tape etc.
Small problems can always arise, from a blister to a torn nail. It is therefore advisable to have some kind of “first aid” kit for athletes with you.
10. Headphones
Music can relax, distract or motivate. Hear what you need to be ready for the next match.
Good luck and sporting greetings,
