1.Teams that play together

Doubles is very fascinating for spectators, 2 against 2 can be extremely exciting. This can also be seen in the success of paddle tennis in recent years. What irritates viewers, however, is when the pairings constantly change. You could introduce a rule that a team must always play together for at least 3 months, or must play the preliminary round including the respective Grand Slam tournament together. To do this, the ranking system would have to be changed slightly and, of course, special rules for injuries would have to be incorporated. If teams play together for longer and possibly have a team name, then the spectators can identify with it much better.

2.Show more tennis on TV

Unfortunately, tennis is shown less and less on television. The glory days of free TV are behind us, but it would still help the popularity of the sport and doubles enormously. Streaming services dominate the entertainment sector, but unfortunately there is far too little tennis shown on Netflix, Amazon Prime and Co. If viewers don't even have the opportunity to see all singles and doubles matches at 250 ATPs on Tennis TV, then it is difficult to follow a player or a doubles team intensively.

3.Social Media

There are extremely spectacular rallies, especially in doubles, which should be promoted much more often on social media. Unfortunately, the attention in tennis is very much concentrated on a few top players. These top players absolutely deserve the attention and entertain the fans best, but other singles players and doubles should be offered a better platform. That wouldn't hurt anyone and would make the sport even more popular, but for this to happen the players also have to get involved and post more actively on social media.

What do you think? How can tennis and especially doubles be made even more popular? Feel free to write me a DM on Instagram or an email.

With sporty greetings
